What happened
Oma's Pride, manufactured by Miller Foods, Inc. of Avon, Connecticut, is voluntarily recalling one lot — 639 bags — of Woof Complete Canine Chicken Recipe, 6 lb frozen raw dog food, due to Salmonella contamination. The recall covers only Lot BB012729 with a best-by date of 1/27/2029. No other Oma's Pride products, sizes, or lots are affected.
The recall was initiated after the FDA received a consumer complaint and collected a product sample that tested positive for Salmonella. As of August 17, 2026, three illnesses in dogs have been reported in connection with the complaint. No human illnesses have been reported.
The affected product is a frozen raw dog food sold in a 6 lb gusseted stand-up pouch containing 12 individually-wrapped, 8 oz vacuum-sealed portions. It was distributed between February 12, 2026 and May 15, 2026 to retail and wholesale accounts, and directly to consumers through online orders, in the following states: AZ, CA, IN, KY, LA, MD, NJ, NV, NY, PA, and VA.
Salmonella can cause illness in dogs and in people who handle contaminated pet food or surfaces that have come into contact with it. The bacteria can spread through unwashed hands or contact with food bowls and preparation surfaces. Oma's Pride is continuing its investigation into the source and root cause of the contamination and has stated it will provide updates as more information becomes available.
